LIBRA (lb): The libra is used in scales or balance in Latin language.The libra is an ancient Roman unit of mass that was equivalent to approximately 328.9 grams. It was divided into 12 unciae. The singular of ‘unciae’ is ‘uncia’. Other name of ‘uncia’ is ‘ounces’. The libra is the origin of the abbreviation for pound, “lb”.

POUND – MASS: The pound or pound-mass is a unit of mass which is legally defined as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms, and which is divided into 16 ounces. The international standard symbol for the pound is lb. lbm is other alternative symbol (for most pound definitions).

1 lb = 453.59265 g or 0.45359 kg
1 Kg = 2.2046213 lb
The unit is descended from the Roman libra hence the abbreviation is “lb” for pound-mass. Just like pound, German use Pfund, Dutch use pond and Swedish use pund.
The equivalence for the pound was given as 1 lb = 453.59265 g or 0.45359 kg, which made the kilogram equivalent to about 2.2046213 lb.
