SSC CGL Syllabus: The Staff Selection Commission has invited application for Combined Graduate Level Examination from 29th December 2020 to 31st January, 2021 on the official website. According to the SSC Calendar, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will be conducting SSC CGL Exam for Tier 1 from 29th May 2021 to 7th June 2021. Besides this, SSC will announce the CGL exam dates 2021 for Tier II, III & IV soon. SSC CGL Syllabus Tier I

As per the SSC CGL exam pattern, the CGL Tier 1 exam is an online, multiple-choice based exam. The exam consists of 4 sections having 100 questions in total. The total marks assigned for Tier I exam is 200. The duration for the Tier I exam is 60 minutes (80 minutes for differently-abled candidates).

General Awareness: The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research.

SSC CGL English Comprehension Syllabus

English Comprehension: Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his/ her basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested.

SSC CGL Exam pattern – Important pointers:

  • Candidates should be careful while attempting any question as there is negative marking for wrong attempts.
  • As per the SSC CGL exam pattern, candidates can expect a deduction of 0.5 marks for each incorrect answer.

  2. English Language & Comprehension- Total marks is 200 for this paper and the duration to complete the paper is 2 hours.
  3. Statistics– Again candidates have to complete the paper in 2 hours carrying 200 marks in total.
  4. General Studies- Finance & Economics– This paper will have 200 marks and 2 hours duration.

Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension): Synonyms, antonyms, spelling/ detecting misspelled words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/ passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/ indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, cloze passage & comprehension passage.

Paper-III (Statistics): Collection, Classification and Presentation of Statistical Data – Primary and Secondary data, Methods of data collection; Tabulation of data; Graphs and charts; Frequency distributions; Diagrammatic presentation of frequency distributions.
Measures of Central Tendency– Common measures of central tendency – mean median and mode; Partition values- quartiles, deciles, percentiles.
Measures of Dispersion– Common measures dispersion – range, quartile deviations, mean deviation and standard deviation; Measures of relative dispersion.

Paper-IV (General Studies-Finance and Economics):

Part A: Finance and Accounts-(80 marks): Fundamental principles and basic concept of Accounting: Financial Accounting: Nature and scope, Limitations of Financial Accounting, Basic concepts and Conventions, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

SSC CGL Tier II Exam Pattern: Important Points

Candidates can note down the important points for SSC CGL syllabus given below:

  1. Candidates should know that Paper 1 and paper 2 is compulsory for all the post
  2. Paper 3 is compulsory for the candidates applying for the post of Junior Statistical Officer
  3. Paper 4 is for the candidates who got shortlisted in Tier I of paper 4.

SSC CGL Syllabus Tier III

As per the SSC CGL Exam Pattern, the Tier 3 Exam is a subjective paper that will be taken offline via pen and paper mode.
